The Problem

The original onboarding programs were designed primarily for sellers and recruiters, and while they were robust, they failed to address the unique needs of permanent placement search consultants. This resulted in redundant content and a lack of tailored guidance, leaving new hires overwhelmed by irrelevant information. The disjointed modules made it difficult for consultants to connect digital lessons with practical application, which slowed down their ramp-up during the critical first 90 days and ultimately hindered both individual performance and team success.
The Solution
To address these challenges, I developed a unified onboarding program that streamlines content and delivers a targeted learning experience. The solution focuses on integrating the best elements from existing programs with new, role-specific content, ensuring an engaging and effective training pathway for permanent placement search consultants:
Unified, Targeted Content
I developed a streamlined program that eliminates irrelevant material by integrating the best modules from the existing programs with new, customized content specifically for permanent placement roles.
Comprehensive Learning Journey
The solution blends interactive digital modules with hands-on lab exercises and interactive PDF workbooks. These resources guide new hires through their first 90 days, incorporating practical "develop" and "apply" activities that promote skill-building, self-reflection, and real-time application.
Enhanced Engagement
Engaging elements such as scenario-based quizzes, videos, and even subtle pop culture easter eggs ensure that the training remains dynamic and enjoyable without distracting from the core material.
Support for Continuous Improvement
A dedicated leader guide complements the training, empowering managers to monitor progress and provide targeted support, ensuring that the learning experience is cohesive and continuously evolving.
By focusing on these aspects, the program not only addresses the shortcomings of the previous onboarding methods but also creates a more efficient, engaging, and effective pathway for permanent placement search consultants to succeed.
Action Mapping
Action mapping is a strategic method for designing training that directly connects learning to job performance. In this project, I created an action map outlining the key tasks and milestones for permanent placement search consultants during their first 90 days. This map guides the process—from auditing existing courses and curating relevant content, to developing targeted modules, piloting the program, and refining the training based on ongoing feedback. The goal is to ensure every step of the onboarding journey is aligned with real-world actions, reducing ramp time and boosting

The Design
Given the privacy restrictions on sharing full course content, I've focused on detailing the design process behind the program. I used a combination of Articulate Rise, Storyline, and custom designs in Photoshop and Illustrator to create a visually engaging experience that adheres to company branding while delivering role-specific content.
To provide further insight into my design process, please watch the video walkthrough below. In this walkthrough, I demonstrate one of the interactive lessons—sensitive information has been redacted to protect proprietary content. The video highlights:
